Give Your Dog Some Paw Protection This Winter!

Our fur babies may suffer discomfort during the winter due to snow, ice, and salt. Offer your dog some paw protection this winter!Veterinaire Pet Care shares this article from the American Kennel club

The paws of our dogs aren't always at the top of our list of things to care for as we watch them traverse surfaces we would never venture over ourselves without getting a single flinch or complaint. Fortunately, you can protect the paws of your dog this winter with several methods.

First, you can use booties or bandages to cover your dog's paws.If you're having a hard time getting the booties on and off, consider using a size that needs to be wrapped around their paw rather than just covering the paws with a thin layer of material. The booties offer warmth, full coverage, and durability, which make them an excellent way to protect your canine's paws in cold weather. Bandages and muzzles can also help protect your dog's paws from injury. The heel to toenail distance should be measured to determine your dog's right size of bootie.

Furthermore, if booties are not an option, you can ensure your pup's paws stay healthy and free of injury with a variety of products available to keep you’re their paw’s safe, such as paw balm, and towels on hand. Additionally, shortening your walks can help minimize the risk of an injury from the winter elements. Frostbite can occur if you are out too long in the cold.
